Landed at JFK last night around 10pm and took the Airtrain to the subway to the neighborhood I am staying in. Although the possibility of sleeping was indeed tempting, so was the prospect of burgers at the Trailer Park Lounge. A kitcshy decor and decent service made my splash into Manhattan painless and welcoming.

Next day we headed out for a walking tour of the city which included many stops to look at handbags and other assorted fashion items. One of my favorite places to shop here is a chain called Strawberry because you can find good, inexpensive cool stuff (and who doesn't love that?) After a mad dash around the store (and only one small purchase!) we headed to Grand Central Station to check out the building and contents. We grabbed a quick snack at Two Boots (pizza, meatball sandwiches) and a key lime cheesecake from Magnolia Bakery. This was one of the highlights of the day!
All tuckered out from our day of walking we headed back home for a quick nap and then, of course, it was time for dinner. The wait to get a table was over an hour so we walked around the corner for a glass of wine at The Upholstery Store. We then enjoyed a divine dinner of goat cheese gnudi (amazing pillows of cheese wrapped in a pasta-like dough), deviled eggs (don't ask how this fits in), rabbit with fennel and more at the Spotted Pig. Ahhh...how I love New York. Or is it all the food? Does is matter?

Tomorrow we are off to Brooklyn for pizza and to see Coney Island. With the weekend poised to fly by, I am counting down my days of food heaven and a long plane ride home. Until then, there's always hot dogs!
